Well, depends on how you look at it, soft pouch vs hard shell. I've had both for my iphone and actually prefer the soft pouch (which is what we use on the boat). The pouch you show is generic for a tablet, the hardshelled ones I posted are specific to the iPad.
I like the versatility of the soft pouch, but I don't think you can use the rear camera with it (not sure about that, I know you can't with ours), but you can use it with any tablet that fits inside. The hardshell is going to give you more protection overall, and it has clear lexan ports for the cameras but you can only use it with the iPad it was designed for. I also noticed that they don't mention iPad 3's. Both float, so it's kind of up to the user.
Hardshell ones may also have a better/lower glare cover for the display that makes it easier to work with the iPad in bright light. All of these are limited in not allowing you to power the iPad, meaning that you can at best use it for a moderate length sailing day, not a long one.
I use my iPad1 unprotected on the sailboat for occasional nav purposes. It's exposed and naked, but it also has a $ value similar to the cost of a case and is easier to read and power without anything on the display.
David, thanks for keeping an eye out but that ad gave me a black one! Like others mentioned, price is outrageous. I would think a guy like you would find us a better deal I got a similar case from Costco online for under $30. I tested it out-with out Ipad- and it worked. I am too chicken to try with it inside. Beginning to be sorry I posted it. I wasn't looking for an iPad cover, just thought others on here might be interested & did no research. If I'd been looking for one for myself (don't have a tablet), I'd have done more, so apologies.
