I purchased this boat over three years ago with the intention of cleaning up the bright work and taking care of some of the detail issues that she has. The PO had kind of let her go maintenance-wise, and she needed some cleaning, oiling, and polishing. However, I could see through the modifications and upgrades that she had been well kept for many years, and the issues that she did have were primarily cosmetic and minor repairs. However it didn't work out quite as I had planned. . ...not much more than about six months after I towed her home 400 miles from Santa Barbara and took her out on the lake one time, I bought a house. Specifically, a fixer-upper short-sale on four acres (read: tons of work). Since then the boat has been parked on the hard (covered). My wife also informed me after that first trip that she remembered liking sailing but now didn't see herself getting used to the feel of the boat heeling, and she'd rather be camping. As many of you know, it doesn't exactly help the cause when the wife is not "on board".

For what little time I did get on the water, I love the wing keel and I love the tabernacled mast. I used to own an 83' swing keel, so I've got a pretty good point of comparison. The tabernacled mast especially is a dream in terms of mast stepping single handed, even while underway if you want (for low bridges/overhangs). It's so stable, and so much less scary than my old A-frame setup. However, the time has come for me to come to terms with the fact that I am not going to have the time necessary to put into her for many years to come. Whenever I have spare time, I spend it working on our new property. And, recreationally, we're doing more camping than sailing.

When I took her out I kept her on Folsom lake for two nights and three days (maximum allowable boat camping time on that lake) and the bilge was dry as a bone the entire time. She is ready to launch and sail right now. However, she isn't in pristine condition either. I will offer my opinion on what she still could use, or at least what I would do if I had the time. It's fairly basic stuff, but it requires time, and my house is hogging all of mine.

-hull has been cleaned, but above the waterline could use a good rubbing, polishing, and waxing (last bottom job was in 2006 according to the records that were passed on to me-has been stored on trailer since not long after that because PO bought a new boat and this one went into storage). Since the ablative paint has been dry for a couple of seasons now, it is chipping off in a few small places and is chalky. IMO she would need a bottom job if you plan to keep her in the water.
-exterior wood has been power washed by me, but needs some sanding and new finish
-interior wood is ok, but could use some cleaning and oil
-the middle companionway board is cracked. Someone glued it and did a poor job in my
opinion. I would have re-done it to make it prettier.
-the companionway board tracks (not sure what they're called) are cracked at the top
-according to receipts I was given, the mast was rewired in 2005 and a 4 wire deck connector
was added. However, when I got the boat the deck connector was damaged. Looked like it had been plugged in incorrectly and then threaded tight-anyway, the guts of the connector were bent up/broken. I took it off and ordered a new one from Catalina Direct, but they were out at the time. I never got around to getting one, so it still needs one.
-The main sail is the original. It appears to have had some maintenance/repair work done on it to keep it serviceable. It's functional, but probably not the prettiest sail out there.
-There are tears in both of the settee cushions and in one of the quarter berth cushions. I just placed folded blankets on them, but someone might decide to reupholster them. You can see them in the pictures.
-The trailer has some rust, and some of the rollers need replacing. The brake system didn't appear to be operational when I towed it home. However I towed it 400 miles without a problem. It tracked great behind my Suburban. I have since purchased four new 10" disc brake hubs, a tandem axle brake line kit, and a disc brake actuator. They are all Tie Down brand, and the whole package would currently cost around $1000 from West Marine. If the buyer doesn't want all that stuff, I will take $500 off of the price of the boat and sell it separately.

That's all I can think of for now. I may be being overly critical, and I have had a couple of people tell me to just list the boat and allow people to make their own assessments, but frankly I would prefer to point out everything that I know of in advance and risk showing it less as opposed to showing it more and have people possibly looking at something different than they were expecting. I guess I'd make a terrible used car salesman.

Low NADA on this boat is $5500. That is with no options, no upgrades, no motor, no trailer, etc. With the wing keel, rigging, and other upgrades as well as the outboard, trailer, new parts for the boat and trailer. However, I've also understand that the boat market has softened, so I want to be realistic as well. I'm re-listing her at $5700 OBO.

You can email me with questions. Thanks for your interest!

If they new owner isn't interested in the brakes, I'll offer $350 for them.

That link is to a kit for a single axle. I have four disk brake hubs, not two, and a tandem axle hose kit, not a single axle hose kit. Thank you for the offer, but I wouldn't have any trouble getting $500 for it all. (-:

Based on what I've seen around $7000-$8000, I'm relisting her at $5700.
