I got a call from the financing company saying the loan was approved, so unless something unforeseen happens, I should be the new owner of the Beneteau 361 in a week or so. :) My wife and I went up for the survey on Saturday and it came back pretty good. There were a few small items that we're going to take care of ourselves, and nothing close to being a deal killer.
To update on the other thread about selecting a dock, for those familiar with Sandusky Harbor Marina, I chose F72. It was the only dock that had a port turn into the slip with a starboard tie-up. There was no starboard turn with port tie-up. The stern of the boat is facing the west, so unfortunately it appears to me that the prevailing wind will be behind the boat when she's in the dock.
Thanks everyone for your advice and kind words in this adventure my wife and I have been on. Now we have the enjoyable task of coming up with a good new name. :)

Ben - did you end up financing through Boat US? We are pretty far along in the process of moving to a bigger boat as well - everything is moving along and I was doing the financing part through my local credit union where I was pre-approved. But now that they see that the boat is a Coast Guard documented vessel instead of a Ohio state titled vessel they are nervous as they have never done a boat loan like that before.
Hi Dreddick, I did not end up going with Boat US. I went through my bank initially for rates, which was PNC, and they could give me the loan for 180 months but the rate was 7.9%. I thought that was pretty high, and my broker thought so too. he put me in contact with a finance guy who specializes in boats and he got me 3.74% for 180 months. i thought that was pretty good so I took it. Because of that i didn't even ask Boat US for a quote, they may have been equally fine.

Hijack alert! I think Documented vessels in Ohio still have to have Ohio registration. Might be wrong but I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere and I believed.
John, you're right; the boat still needs the Ohio sticker, but not the OH numbers. At least that's what I was told, and it appears to be the case because the boat ONLY has the Ohio sticker.
Yes - most of the larger boats I see out on Erie do not have the OH numbers displayed. I used to wonder why that was the case - not realizing they were CG documented.
