My husband has an interview in Atlanta. If we move to Atlanta and put our Catalina 25 on Lanier, where is the best marina for small keel boat sailors? Our boat has a trailer but currently needs a lift to put the boat on the trailer, at least until we modify the trailer. I also have a Laser and enjoy racing. Any Laser fleets or dinghy racing there?

Here's a link to the lake Lanier Sailing Club. I'm sure they can help you. I think that they have an active laser fleet. They have active club racing. I've been there 3 times racing Catalina 22's. In addition to their own slips, there's a large marina close by but i don't know the name.

Edit: My bad, I forgot the link. Redeye added it below.

Aqualand. Flowery branch, Ga. No Waiting. Where I am located. Best marina on the lake (IMHO), largest inland marina in the world. Two main sides. North and South. North side is more protected.

LLSC is a yacht club with a long waiting list and big money to join.
They put on some great races, many open.

Overview. Kinda Depends on where you live. East and west side of the lake. Up Hwy 85 on the east side and up Hwy 400 on the west side, although most of Atlanta can get to the east side with no problem.

West Side:
Most marina's on the west side of the lake are up "creeks", big creeks and mostly have powerboats. They are really quiet and nice, but ya gotta motor to the wind. Like: http://www.baldridgemarina.com/html/home.html

One marina on the NW side has easy access to the "Fat" part of the lake, and has sailboats.

East Side:
Holiday Marina on Lake Lanier Islands is a zoo, but is a big marina with lots going on.. Traffic just to get in and out. Lots of sailboats and powerboats. I'm sure anyone with a slip there loves it.
Complete with a resort: http://www.lakelanierislands.ccom

Sunrise cove close to Gainsville is very nice.

Atlanta Yacht club is very nice also

University Yacht club is nice also .. I think they have some openings.

Welcome and Good luck!

http://www.saillanier.com/

One of the most active websites that covers racing.

And... he has some dead links to the application for the very next regatta... so active is kinda relative. This ain't silicone valley.
