I traveled to Victoria B.C. on business last year, and had to make a few obligatory stops in Seattle, Bainbridge Island and Port Townsend (checkin' out a few boats), before taking the Coho ferry from Port Angeles to Victoria. I promised myself I would ret
Well Todd Im sure your going to get lots of help on this one. My wife, son and I did the San Juans for the first time last year. There is lots to do and see. If your comming in by boat from Bellingham or Anacortes you cant go wrong. Both locations have go
You are asking a lot of questions-and as I have sailed the San Juan and Gulf Islands since 1975, I could write a book on the great stuff you will experience in our beautiful northwest corrider!
Todd: I've been doing the San Juan thing since late 70's as well on my SK 25. We usually do the "anchor/bouy" more "rustic" routes rather than marinas, but certainly Victoria is a great stop. I'd recommend going there from Roche Harbor, or a nearby anc
Hi Todd, The San Juans are a beautiful place to cruise. Marge & I have really enjoyed our time there. The Strait of Juan de Fuca is a strange place, wild and confused one day, glassy smooth the next. I would come down Haro strait between Vancouver Isl
Hi Todd, I've been sailing in the San Juans just three times (well, four if I count sailing around Friday Harbor in a 10' dinghy). Friday Harbor is a nice little town, but watch out for seaplanes landing as you're approaching the harbor.
Did you find Doe Island? (or were you looking at all those cute bodies at Doe Bay Resort?) This is a little two acre state park to the west of the resort with a dock on the north side that will take two boats.
Uh, Doe Island, yeah sure, uh, I know exactly where that, um, is. Next to Doe Bay? There is something next to Doe Bay? O.K. I didn't see Doe Island, but I did see some "lilies" in bloom!
Doe Bay is a lovely spot, but somewhat difficult to "see" as one goes by. I use Peapod Rocks as a reference point. There's only marginal anchorage there; the dock is best, but really only room for 2 boats of the 30' range. We try to get in there nearly

Duh.....How can I erase my mistake of posting twice by accident? What I wanted to mention before, Todd, is that there IS a marina near Buchart Garden. I think it's called Brentwood Bay but my chart is on my boat right now. Since I avoid marinas wheneve
Ok Ken. I know you don't like Roche. But we don't all have ice makers on our boats either. Let me tell you all. Ken has so many do das on his boat that when he does gunk hole he wants for nothing. Except perhaps a lemmon pie. hahahah see you at Stuart Isl
You are right there! Your wonderful wife is the only one that can make a pie like that-especially at one in the morning when the power goes off! (I know-you are still upset that you did not get a piece of that heavenly stuff-but she really did
