Doug and I are planning a trip to the gulf on March 9th. We would like to sail in the gulf during the day and be in port in the evening. Currently thinking of launching in the Galveston area and heading South for three days then back. We need to leave the truck & trailer for 6 days. Any of you have suggestions/recommendations?
Thanks
Howard

Life is not a dress rehearsal. You will not get another chance.

It's located right around the corner from the jetties leading out into the gulf. Pretty good sailing right in the Galveston Ship Channel too. If it's too rough on the outside you can sail the bay or the channel.
They have what appears to be a steep ramp and the water is plenty deep. I wouldn't mind coming down to watch you launch. I'd like to see how their ramp works out.
Plus I could get some measurements off your trailer to verify I have mine setup properly.
Hi Gary: We are planning to come down Saturday afternoon, step the mast and launch the boat. Our goal is to be on the water, underway Sunday AM. We will give you a call, as soon as we firm up our plans. It would be great to have you come down! I will give the GYB a call first thing tomorrow. Doug
Yeah, it's been blowing hard for the past 3 weeks around here. SCA's and SCEC flags have been flying almost constantly.
That's why I mentioned sailing the bay or the Galveston Ship Channel.
It's dead calm right now.
If it's really blowing you could always come sail Clear Lake. It's just off the bay with bay access and doesn't get very rough when the winds up. You get all the benefits of the wind without the waves.

In case of weather issues and we stay in the bay area is there a marina in Kemah that we could overnight in? Send me an e-mail with your phone # and we will give you a call. E-mail; jddain@earthlink.net
Seabrook Marina -->>http://www.seabrookshipyard.com/ Very near the Kemah Boardwalk but you would have to drive over the bridge to get there. 3 minutes away.
Kemah Boardwalk Marina -->> http://www.kemahboardwalk.com/kemah-marina.asp Not sure if they have overnight docks or not but it's right next to the Kemah Boardwalk with some good restaurants.
Then there's my marina -->> http://www.watergatemarina.com/ 5 - 7 minutes from the Kemah Boardwalk by car. 2 minutes to Westmarine.
Dolivaw is on one side of me and there's a C250 on the other side. Just across the fairway there's another C25 that just moved in. Haven't seen anyone down at that boat.
There are numerous slips throughout the marina that are empty including across the fairway where the other C25 is located.
The only issue you would have is finding a place to launch. Everything is via Travelift that I know of. There's one in my marina and one at Seabrook Shipyard Marina. None at Boardwalk.
Unless things have changed in the last week or two the Travelift at my marina is closed on the weekend. Not sure about Seabrook Shipyard
