Dave,

Your boat is in fantastic condition. Why is the price so low? You should be able to get $10K or $11k easy for your boat even without a trailer. If you were closer I'd buy it right now.

I don't think that is Dave's boat; he is just sharing the listing.

$6,900 is a really good price. It says "reduced", maybe they started at $8,500-9,000 and no one was buying.

Yeah I guess you are right. I glanced at the picture of the boat coming into the harbor and the name looked about the right length so assumed it was Dave's. Looking a little closer it's not Compass Rose as I thought it was.

Still a good deal. If it had a good trailer I'd drive up and buy it myself.

There is a Harrison Twnshp, MI, NJ, PA. The Craigslist listing originated in MI., so it looks like it's on the west shore of Lake St. Clair, north of Detroit.

You are correct; I humbly retract my statement.

FYI - My C25 fixed keel also came w/o a trailer; I spent 25% of the asking price to move it from where it was to where I needed it.

[/It is in Michigan, on Lake St Clair. I know the boat very well; Dave is a good friend of mine. The boat is in great shape and Dave has kept her that way. The economy here sucks; I won’t even say what another 25 went for recently. But whoever buys Compass Rose will be very happy with her!quote]

Dave needs to raise his price up to at least $10K and put it on the Sailing Texas Texas website. They sell boats off that site from all across the country. His boat will be gone in a couple of the weeks at the most.

Sorry guys but I have been out of touch for a couple of weeks. I understand your concern and points of view but the market is very tough right now. Two years ago I started out at $13,000 and over time I have brought the price down trying to match the market. I checked with a few brokers in the area and they said the C25's are averaging $6,500 in good shape. She will be back in the water after I completely re-do the bottom this year. In any event, she is still here and will get the pampering she deserves. After all she is a Rose. :)

Thanks for all your input and here's to wishing all sailors and previous sailors a great season of boating.

Best wishes, Dave

PS Glen, thank you for your endorsement :)

Dave,

Your boat is far, far above average!!! If you had a trailer for it I'd drive up from Texas and buy it right now.

As I mentioned above, put an ad on the Sailing Texas website and bump up the price. I think you will definitely get some calls from outside your local area. The ads are free!

169 views in the 1st 24 hours. Probably more than he's gotten in a month from the local area.
