I am actually looking for a trailer for my Fixed Keel also. Needs to be tandem axle, surge brakes, in good condition. Prefer that it be near Dallas - Fort Worth, so I don't have to drive forever to get it - Nor pay to have it shipped.
Hey Kyle - For what it is worth, FK trailers are hard to find as they are mostly used to transport, not to own. My SK came with a trailer that was custom built by the PO, he owns a company that makes boat trailers (www.sealiontrailers.com) Another manufacturer is Triad, used to be based out of CT but now I think they are in NC. BTW, a good FK trailer will run you about $4K+
I priced new trailers and it was obvious I was going to be $5k poorer with a new trailer. I found a FK trailer with an asking price of $2k and was setting up a time to take a look when I received a notice that the C-25 we wanted to purchase had sold (didn't want to put a deposit until we knew we had a trailer secured). So, we no longer need a trailer - maybe this thread will help ftworthsailor find what he's looking for.
We've looked and looked and a FK wasn't our first choice but this boat was exceptional. We took a chance and sold our older FK to purchase this one but it was not meant to be. We were told we would be warned if there were any other serious parties but... not. Oh we'll. Sorry, im griping. I was away from home performing military duties and it stalled my progress. We are now boatless again but life goes on.
I am still looking for a FK trailer, however I am considering converting my SK trailer into a FK Trailer since it has the tandem axle/wheels and a really nice tongue extension built into it. I am going to see what it will cost to modify this trailer with something that looks more like this:
If I am REALLY creative, I can not only keep this trailer working as a Swing Keel Trailer, I can use it as a FK, as well.
Maybe I am just dreaming, but I think I can do this ! ! !
FWIW, while looking for some drawings on mast extrusion, I found a copy of the cradle dimensions direct from Catalina for the fixed keel. May help? e-mail me at msn.com. I can forward the .pdf
