We just purchased a catalina 25 and there is a set of poles attached to the foredeck. How do we raise mast using these?

Sounds like an A-Frame. If you do a search on this website you'll find oodles of threads.

Can you describe the poles more accurately? Pictures would be helpful. Folks here raise the mast using everything from brute force, 2x4s, gin poles, and fairy dust....

I use an a-frame made from EMT conduit. It connects to the forward lower chain plates.
