The Block dead center of the deck on the bow I initially thought was a good idea... Now that I've used it a bit... I see why people complain.
I've heard both sides of the arguments, I think, of why mid-deck mounting versus bottom of the mast mounting for the downhaul. The question is, which are you folks using, and what works best. As it stands I have fairleads running to a stand up block that then runs to the bridle on the bottom of the spinnaker pole. When you adjust the windward guy (say you want to roll the spin to windward some), you much also ease the downhaul (to allow it to swing)... I figure moving the block to the bottom of the mast eliminates this (but then puts uneven pressure on the pole/bridle).
Does anyone have a picture of how they run their foreguy/downhaul?
Since this is less a Capri thing, and more of a "best practices" with a symmetrical... I thought the racing forum was a logical place to put this.
I went to remove the block from the center of the deck, and it broke in pieces. quick snatched the cars used to for the twings for the spin (I don't use them cause I am just starting to figure out how best to run this spinnaker).. I put the car on the spinnaker track on the mast (for the ring, at the bottom)... then snapped a block on that. It worked great for the downhaul!
I've upgraded the block to something more permanent since then, and so far I have been happy with the new location.

I have Confetti rigged just like you described your setup for the foreguy. Its worked well for us for the 37 years we have raced her. You have to pay attention to managing the jib sheets when you jibe, but its all in what you get used to....
We generally launch the first time from the bow pulpit, and douse into the companionway. Then all subsequent launches/douses are out and into the companionway.
Practice launching gybing and dousing while anchored off the stern. Allows you to focus on sail handling and not trying to steer also , etc.
