"Small World" lives on the trailer and is launched / retrieved every weekend. Most of the time this is uneventful. However, every now and then I end up bumping the keel against the upright supports. The lead is very soft and dings easily.
I have finally tried to do something about this. Last week, I bought a three inch PVC pipe and cut a slit in one side on the table saw. With a bit of prying, I managed to spring this over the angle iron uprights. I added some zip ties to keep it together. (I don't think those were really necessary).
Time will tell if this has been worth the effort. Should be!
I've been meaning to do this exact mod to my trailer, but we don't launch anywhere near as often as you do. However, the PO left some nice dings in the keel for me, one in particular looks like he was moving pretty fast when he hit.
