What is the white cylinder made from? Kinda looks like the pencil eraser refills I used to use when I did hand drafting and had an electric eraser. I think they'd be too small though.

It did bend years ago... straighten it may weaken it.

With this square "cutting board", type material insert it should be no longer or at least less of a problem during mast raising... It is a detail to carefully watch.

(Catalina uses the exact same material for the hatch lid and sides of the hatch slider on the C250) Perhaps someone of the forum knows the name of the material)

High-density polyethylene (HDPE). Starboard is a brand name for HDPE formed into lumber.

FWIW, prior to raising my mast I just tie my shrouds to the lifelines with a 12" line and a loose half hitch. It keeps the T-bolts aligned, and the lines just fall off when the shrouds are tensioned away from the lifeline. Should work with outboard (WB) chainplates just like it does on my inboard (WK) ones.
