Slightly O/T. I've had the privilege and honor of seeing "The Presidents Own" Marine Corp concert band in performance at a high school in Vermont. Took two granddaughters who wanted to sign upright then. Could be one of the top 3-4 concerts I've been too. If one of these service bands shows up in your area make a point to go. Price is zero. Also saw one of the Army concert bands in concert another great show, price zero. Some real dorks are already chastising the wording in Joy To the World played by the Air Force Band in a federal building. Though that was a great performance.
There was an orchestra in Austria that did the same type of performance on "Ode to Joy" - starting with a single cellist and gradually becoming the full orchestra. Both beautiful and enjoyable to watch.
Frank, I'll admit to a little choking-up, too. I suspect the ages and uniforms had something to do with it--not to mention the outstanding performance!
Outstanding performance! I teared up a bit, too. It's always fun to see that sort of thing, wish I could experience one in person. Given the current environment, I'm surprised our apologist-in-chief allowed them to do it.
