SOLD it yesterday. To protect the buyer I won't say for how much in an open forum. Once again, this forum comes through. We found it here and we sold it here.
We "had" an offer for 11.5k but they bailed on us. Says they had layoffs at his work the next day and it didn't make sense in case he's next. So... We are dropping the price to $11,000 to try to move it quicker (no lower- We'll keep it instead). I still have somebody up North that "says" almost psotive he will take it but he's waiting for the weather to clear to transport in single visit.
We have some that "may" want me to deliver. While we are not opposed to that, we are holding out for somebody that will come and take it. If we deliver, we will want the full 12k. *****END OF UPDATE *********** Again, I am trying to return some of the help this forum has provided over the years. If we move up to a bigger Catalina I intend to stay watching this forum while seeing what the other Catalina forum holds.
We will not sell parts. Except for Dinghy, it's all or nothing.
Stored on trailer in a Barn/garage (built for travel home) in Central NC (outside Raleigh) but used along NC coast. We have not had time to gather full inventory but:
Boat and trailer bought in 2004. Trailer was new in 2004. Bought it for the boat. We are the third owners. First owner had it 1 year (According to second owner). Second owner had it until 2004 in Long Island NY. Hauled every year then too.
Nissan 9.8 hp long shaft 2 yrs old (4 stroke) Custom Binimi w/ aft flaps and dodger windows (dodger not in pics) about 2006? Some bulbs replaced with LEDs New VHF 2013 New Depth Sounder 2013 Standing rigging replaced 2005 Have replacement side windows. One side replaced ( one had a crack) but have the other side if ever need them.
Usual stuff: Pop-top cover (perfect shape) Custom cabin cover with pop-up down (Covers main hatch) Winch covers 2 anchors Shore power cable porta potti fenders boat hooks etc... Ready to sail
May also sell dinghy if interested. Dinghy is NOT the one in the pics. Got newer one with 2.5 hp 4 stroke OB.
Stored in Barn every winter 2 hours from coast. Hauled about Thanksgiving and splashed about Easter every year. Bottom paint about 2011. Very clean. Put several barrier coats when bought boat. Had it down to gelcoat. Clean as a baby's but.
Asking $11,500 but not much room for negotiating. Wife is retiring and thinking of moving up.
Inside is very clean and we still have the original stove and custom fit carpet. We have stove out and have Coleman stove/grill in it's place. Easy to remove.
Red and Blue are to disconnect the Alternator.
OK, OK. Before everybody complains... This is a dinghy motor mount. The plan is to change to quick release for top and bottom. I also planned to make an emergency support brace so I could release just the top ones and insert the support brace in order to use the dinghy motor as a backup emergency motor. (theoretically)
A few words about the 89 C25. I currently own this model and love it. It's the 2nd generation deck design. I find it a considerably drier boat than a previous owned 1981 model. The lack of maintenance on the lead wing keel goes without saying. The anchor locker has a has a larger drain hose and the bottom of the locker slopes toward the drain. The genoa tracks have also been moved in from the gunwales, stopping just in front of the primary winches. I believe the port and starboard cabin top winches were standard equipment. The battery compartment is centered aft of the where the keel cable would be. The trailer has angled cross members and smaller diameter wheels, both of which allow the boat to sit lower and ease launching.
I don't like to comment on pricing here, unless it's a really good price. So much has to do with your local market--the boats you're competing with... However, buyers will look at sources like Yachtworld.com (a broker site) and Sailingtexas.com (free listings). For many, that will define the ballpark for asking prices.
Nice boat, if you were on the west coast I'd make you an offer. I've never seen an '89 wing for sale out here so for me your price seems a reasonable place to start. I used to own a '79 SR/SK and would like to upgrade a little. The 'perfect' boat for me would include a marine head, I don't know how hard or expensive it would be to do a retrofit on your boat. Good luck!

Again, Giving this forum first shot. We will only wait a few weeks before we place it out on the general market. <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"> Considering the rarity of C25 wings + the galvanized trailer, I think it's a very reasonable price. It also depends on the economy in your area + the number of boats available for sale. Are the buyers in your area a captive audience or is there a surplus?

Very good price for the model ('89 wing) that's the pick of the C-25 litter--enhanced cabin and deck. Trailer and 4-stroke make it a great package at the price! (I can't, of course, speak to the condition, although it sounds like it has been well cared for.)

We had a Precision 23 on our lake that was put up for sale a few years ago. Everyone thought it was way over priced and it would never command that kind of money. Granted, they were in no hurry to sell and two years later they received their asking price (from an out-of-towner.)
Your boat is not overpriced in the least. I would stand your ground.
