I keep trying to talk myself into one of these, but since I've never flown anything but a tethered "RC" plane, I'd be afraid I'd lose it. <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"> I've flown RC planes before but never helicopters. This thing is so easy to fly it's remarkable and you can't lose it (as long as you keep track of the remaining charge on the battery).
It's got on-board GPS and attitude sensors that help keep it stable and when it takes off it marks it's home location. If it flies out of transmitter range or the transmitter batteries die it automatically enters into a "Return to Home" mode that makes it climb to 60' and will bring it back to the take-off location plus or minus 5' or so!
If you lose situational awareness you can flip and hold a switch on the transmitter that will also move it into "Return to Home" mode.
Tons of videos on YouTube that show what these things can do. Unfortunately some people are doing stupid (and illegal) things with them. That's not what I'm about. When flown responsibly they can do some amazing aerial photography which is what I want use it for.
Check out Blades website. The technology in these things is really pretty amazing!
I saw a mall demo of a model chopper that was very precisely controlled. The guy shut it down about 8' above the floor, it did a free-fall, and ended up upside-down. He started it up, it flipped itself over with the rotor, and took off! I almost bought myself a Christmas present!
