Haven't started the tow vehicle since November so I want to purchase an automatic battery charger similar to what I have for the boat battery. Except, the truck battery has the side terminals and I am not sure what kind of connector would be compatible. I hope alligator clips are not my only option!

Cut the alligator clips off and attach ring terminals that fit the bolt in the side terminal? You can add quick connects in the line too if you want to be able to quickly remove the charger from the battery.

Whatever kind of mating plug you use, it's always a good idea to make sure an accidental contact with metal (a wrench, screwdriver) cannot short out the terminals. Further you should install a 20A fuse in line with the connector and the plug/receptacle to prevent a fire.

The two wire, single connector quick disconnect with male negative/female positive side attached to the battery is the safest approach.
