Anyone know of a good used C-25 trailer for sale near Ft. Worth TX? I have a single axle trailer that I got when I bought my Fixed Keel boat, however it is pretty scary. I never did take it up on the freeway, just the back roads at 30-35mph, just to get it about 30 miles from the PO's backyard to the marina. When I launched it, several of the pads floated away....they were obviously not mounted to the trailer stanchions very well and the welds on the tee-bolts under the pads were pretty home-made and one has already broken.

I am considering buying a tandem or 3-axle trailer and then welding the stancions on that are needed for my boat.

Would rather buy a trailer that was built for a 25....

Now, with that said, I am wondering...... wouldn't it be better to have a 2X6X10' carpeted sled on there instead of those pads? This way the boat can slide into its cradled area more easily. Just seems like it would work better for haulouts at the boat ramps.

????

Any chance you could have a 2nd axle added to your trailer (or replace your single axle with a tray holding 2 axles), and repair the pads? C25 trailers are very hard to find, but, amazingly, it took more than a year to sell the one I had up until two years ago. It was a C-25 fin keel trailer.
What I mean by a tray is that my trailer's axles were secured to a pair of L beams that in turn were U-bolted to the trailer frame. That way, the axles could be moved together fore and aft a little bit depending on the boat's weight distribution.

This one in in Pensacola, FL. About 690 miles. Not so close but the only one I have seen for sale.

Have you thought about having one built? Mine is a cargo trailer with pads added. I plan to change them to bunks.

I am familiar with the concept of building your axles on a movable tray and then attaching it to the trailer frame in such a manner that you can slide the wheels forward or backwards as needed to balance out your boat. I spent quite a while talking to a guy in OK about this concept as he builds these trailers all the time.

About adding another axle to my existing trailer, I have been told (but not verified) that the rolled C channel steel that was used to build my trailer is not strong enough to support a fully loaded C-25. Not to mention that even with a single 8000lb axle it is not stable enough for this boat.

I will say that while I am not in a hurry for the trailer, If one comes along that was built for a C-25 FK (fin) at the right price and close enough for me to pick it up, I will jump on it.

I am now on a mission to find a 26' - 30' triple axle (boat) trailer - with extended tongue capability. By going with triple axles and a longer trailer, I will be able to not only easily pull and put my boat from/into the water, the extra length will allow me the ability to push the trailer out farther into deep water. Many of the lakes in North Texas are running so low, that the boat ramps are not sufficient for fixed keel boats, however if you can get the trailer out beyond the ramp area, you have a better chance for a successful launch. I definitely do not want to submerge the rear of my 4 X 4 truck beyond the concrete ramp.

Then, using the C-25 CRADLE specs, I will build the keel trough and the stanchions for the C-25. I will add a center stanchion on each side to help support the boat. Also, instead of just using pads, I intend to install a double set of skids to better support the hull.

and for the boat, I need to install a very strong Bow Eye.

What do you think?

Why don't you just buy my '89 SR/WK and the trailer and you don't have to worry about locating a trailer anymore? $12.5 negotiable. LOL

If I come home with another boat, my wife would kill me!! I was inches from buying a 83 S2 8.0 that we found while checking out another C-25. But I stepped back and let my friend pick the S2 up. He got it for a GREAT (unbelieveable) price. We hauled it from its home to its new home at Lake Worth. Boat is really in great shape. Great teak inside and out.

Got another lead on a trailer that I might be able to get locally. Not sure of the price, however was told that it was specifically built for a Catalina 25 full/fin keel. Hope it is in my budget/price range.

I have also been in contact with a boat trailer builder in OK. His offer to build a trailer for me might also be an option.

Sell one of the older boats (newer is always better!).

Or better yet, buy your wife her very own boat!

And I could even deliver it to you late next week when we head up to Denton! What a great deal!

Probably OK for a C25 but to me looks lightly built for a 28' boat.
