Trailer sounds pretty good except no mention of brakes... No outboard... No indication of sail condition, no evidence of roller furling,... But it's an ''89 wing, as nice a 25' trailerable sailboat as ever made by anyone. I'd say the buy-it-now price could be pretty good.
Does anyone have any thoughts or experience about having a boat shipped long distance? I've considered bidding on this boat but haven't got an estimate yet for shipping it to Northern California. One hauler said he would give me a price if I won the bid, I told him I would need to know before I bid. Even if someone were to get this boat for $3000 it looks bare bones. You could easily spend another $10k on essentials not including shipping (or time off work, gas, etc. to do it yourself). There have been plenty of really nice '89 wing keels with all the goodies sold for 12-13 thousand. Unfortunately I can't find one on the west coast. Any suggestions? Thanks, Craig.
I'm not sure I would agree this boat is in average condition for an '89 as stated by the seller. If you look close using the zoom feature it looks like it's been ridden hard and out up wet for quite some time.
Being located in Port Isabel, TX means its probably been sailed in the gulf most of it's life.
Traveler control lines are completely shot, weird looking spots in the hull just below the waterline, teak hasn't been maintained, and the standing rigging looks like it might be a little rusty.
I agree with some of the others, there are a lot of these boats out there in much better condition and with more goodies already installed.

My advice is not to buy a boat sight unseen. The photos, mostly, never show the true condition of the boat. Even expensive ones........

Absolutely. I was invited to visit a 'buddy' on his boat locally, he was thinking of selling it, not my type.
He sent me some pics, looked very sweet... Then I arrived at the dock.. Was this the same boat shown in the pics? Gotta be kidding!
