Welllll, I may have the hang of posting pictures. So I'll take a shot at the cart I made out of a hand cart to haul the engine around.
At 57 I ain't up to schlepping a 9.9 fourstroke into the van and onto the dock. I bought a cheap handcart for about $30 and built a front axle for it. I had in mind the little red wagon (radio flyer) I had as a kid, if you know what I mean.
Here is the cart being loaded up the ramp (2x4's) into the van. I use a purchase made from hardware store pullys and clothesline to pull it up the ramp. One handed, yet. The photo shows my spare 9.9 2 stroke.
The front axle is made from 2x4 scrap. I bought the wheels and steel axle stock, the U-bolts. To get the smooth turning I used a small lazy suzan turntable, with ball bearings, between the two 2x4's. This also from the hardware store.
I had an old shovel handle, some scrap steel and aluminum, nuts, bolts and luckily some blue paint to match the handcart. Some old nylon straps hold the engine in place and some scrap carpet prevents scratches.
The darn thing pulls like my old wagon. I use the pointy end of the shovel handle like a brake by pushing it against the ground.
Hope this gives you the idea. Sure saves my back at the transport end of the remove/replace cycle.
