I haven't been on my boat in months due to medical issues I've been going through, three of my nieces & nephews have gotten married in the past few weeks, helping to launch an online store, and taking classes.
I'm hoping to finally get some time to sail on Sunday (and I'm looking forward to it). If I get really froggy, I might actually get my crab license & drop a few pots.
Having lived in the house we purchased 38 years ago, maintenance, projects, upgrading and a variety of chores around the place has prevented us this year from even thinking of putting the boat in the water.

I agree. I almost sold my boat a couple of years ago but after staying away from it for awhile I got the bug again.
After my wonderful Admiral passed away (Melanoma), I moved to Mystic--some of the most incredible sailing in the world, with destinations galore... and the C-25 sat in a marina slip, wondering where I was. I had single-handed her easily, but never really enjoyed being out there without somebody else to enjoy it with. (I'm just different that way.)
Meanwhile, I had picked up a little downeast center-console runabout to keep on the dock outside of my condo (not reachable with the C-25), and knocked around on it almost every day. I could walk outside, step aboard, go somewhere, see something, come home, step off... and take along anybody who happened to be standing around.
So I got to thinking.......... Time to consolidate the fleet. So began my first and last "big fling" in boating--commissioning the building of a semi-custom boat that combined everything I wanted and could (sort of) afford. Sarge sleeps two and parties 10... (There is a second person now...) She's open, but closeable, with a hardtop, windshield, and even wipers (that I run fairly frequently). Basic galley and enclosed throne-room... No holes or shafts below the waterline, period. 4-stroke, V6 (from the Honda Pilot) but full-height transom. Downeast look but 25+ cruising speed... I could go on......
Now I/we can go places on my lady's tight schedules, in whatever weather (within reason), and Sarge lives right outside my door. Meanwhile, I keep noodling about a little board-boat, to recapture the thrill of hiking out and planing on a beam reach. (If only I had the place to keep it.)
There's nothing wrong with stepping back, re-thinking your situation, and recalibrating your approach to life!
Thank you, Dave. Your last sentence says it all! Life means changes and we need to adapt to stay on top. While I enjoy BerLyn right now I can imagine that the day comes when my 70-ish bones remind me to consider alternatives.
