<< Are you including a rechargeable battery in the plan? >> Mulling over my battery options now. I think I remember that fan drawing something like an amp so it would be like leaving a incandescent anchor light on. I havn't put it all on paper yet, just thinking about what I could do with what I already have in the garage. Glass in a small support for the battery hold down and use this redundant system for power for the electric bilge pump also.
<< panel might generate only something like 30% of what it would on deck. >>
I used this to keep my house battery on a small float charge for years and the battery lasted at least 5 years, just an auto battery.. That side of the boat faces south.
I must have one of the rare Nicro vents. I have a Nicro Mini Vent installed by the PO. I have the receipt dated 11/98, not sure when it was actually installed but the vent has worked fine since I purchased the boat in 1/06.

My first one, purchased in 2006, ran for six years, after which a new battery wouldn't revive it. The second quit after about one year. I see no way to replace its battery--the case seems to be sealed on the new model. The new one also didn't fit into the earlier model's deck sleeve--a little disappointing.
BTW, WM sells the Nicro replacement NiMH battery for $30 each. Radio Shack sells a two-pack of what I'm pretty sure is the same battery for $13. But I don't think that solves my problem... I need to contact Marinco.
