My Grandson was just given an 'old' IPod IOS 1.3

It has (according to the specs) 30GB of storage.

30GB??? I am really surprised that they made one with 30GB and not 32GB?

Anyone (I know there are some Mac Freaks out here ) have any insight to why they made it with 30GB? (there are two models, 30GB & 60GB)

I'm not a Mac guy! Not even sure I would know how to turn a Mac on.

Ok, figured it out.

The IPod V using a real hard drive whereas modern versions use solid state (RAM)

Yep, what's kind of amazing is that you can still get the drives: http://www.ebay.com/bhp/ipod-30gb-hard-drive
