May you all have a Happy Thanksgiving, and our prayers are with you in the Buffalo, NY region dealing with massive snowfall and now possible flooding. If you are traveling this holiday weekend, stay safe!

We have rain and possible snow flurries in our forecast. The kids are with the in-laws (they will be with us for Christmas!), so it's just the admiral and me this weekend, very low key holiday. Maybe we'll get some Christmas decorating done.

I noticed that accessing the forum , at least on my PC at home, sometimes did not connect but sent me to some general search site. This has happened on and off for a few days this past week. I always did get connected but sometimes a day later.

Anyway, pretty quiet with us as well - My kids went to their respective in-laws for Thanksgiving and we got together with my sister and brother-in-law. Still had quite a feast...just less around the table to pass the food.

I went sailing earlier in the week - I think it was last Sunday. Then was on the boat again yesterday doing a little maintenance (very little) - Poured some marine anti-freeze down the drains and cycled the seacocks. Fooled around a bit with that Magic Ezy Stress Crack filler and then basically zoned out in the cockpit listening to my IPAD playing through a "Rocksteady" Bluetooth speaker. This particular unit is very small, allows full control of music through it (volume, advance/reverse/pause of songs and it is one of the few that not only allows hook up by wire and wirelessly but also via a USB stick.

<< everyone in a Tryptophan coma? >>

I'm often sick around the holidays... the patients bring in head colds.

Most Thankful for all the gifts in my life.. Especially Afrin!

Expect to get out sailing this weekend... and biking day after tomorrow, to blow this chest cold out of my lungs...

We took JD out to meet with the other boats of the member's of the Hillsboro Inlet Sailing Club.

I think there were a max of 10 boats from the club at any one time.

JD was well behaved and allowed us to leave her alone on her anchor while we dined with the other members.

Had the chance to visit aboard a Person 35 center board and a Morgan IO 33. As well as have dinner on a very nice Catermaran tied up alongside a Catalina 34 (one of my fav boats).

If that was a sample of the kind of socials this club holds, then the future is bright.

One thing we did learn was because we used our dink more this weekend than all the time we have owned one!

In order to allow the Admiral to board the dink safely & dry, I have to firm up the dinks attachment to the boat.

Solution: hang a pair of lines with loops spliced into the ends on either side of the swim ladder. Then I get in the dink first and pull on the two lines. That firmly holds the dink's bow up to the swim ladder. Peggy is then easily able to board the dink, dry and happy

Paulo- I did the same with my dink when I was on a mooring for awhile. I tied my lines to either side of the boarding ladder. It took a bit of agility to negotiate the ladder just the same.
My biggest problem was the bottom rung of the ladder was underwater!
So my shoe and sock got wet. I used my water shoes but walking around afterward was still soggy and sloshy.
I tried stepping up to the next (dry) step but the balance was off and I'd rather get my shoe wet than get all wet!
