Decided to go for a sail in the pouring rain today. Makes me 1)Want a dodger and 2)Want some more foul weather gear to do that more! Definitely opens up the possibilities. Nobody out but about 40 j24's in the middle of a race, they really couldn't care less.

Last year the weatherman predicted cloudy with a very slight chance of a sprinkle so we went out sailing with the wind being perfect. Ten minutes after raising the sails it started to rain and rather heavy. Put on the foulies and kept sailing thinking it was just a shower and would stop. Nope, Never stopped but got even heavier. We just kept looking at each other and started to laugh. Bottom line is that we sailed all day in the rain very much alone on the water and had a great time! Funny but those are the times you remember the most.

Another thing that can make sailing in the rain more pleasant is a dive mask. Not having raindrops hitting your eyeballs makes a difference! A dodger can only do so much when you have to be at the tiller. (I, on the other hand, have three windshield wipers and a hardtop. )

Actually, that's what I meant (goggles). It's nice to be able to breathe through your nose!

Duh!!! Now why have I never thought of that?!?! I've got a pair of goggles onboard with flippers for underwater ops, but it never occurred to me that being in the rain is literally being under water. How many others thought that?

Rainy Monday here in New England. Got my Helly Hansen rain slicker, Tilley hat and goggles but I don't think I really feel like getting soaked. Tomorrow's weather ought to improve a bit and Wednesday should be ideal.
