I've had a pair of the WM Tahiti binoculars for about 7 years. Lately it seems that the image is a 'double' image. It goes away w/ enough futzing of the focus and spreading the two halves apart and then together a few times.
No, but that generally means that they have been banged around to many times and the barrels are misaligned. Time for new. It is repairable, but usually not cost effective on modestly priced binoculars

At around $300 I wouldn't call them cheap, According to this WM video they are guaranteed for life and you just bring them back for any reason and get a new pair.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kck2GeseNS0

Thanks for that info Scott. My 10 year old Tahitis still work great, but it's good to know about that lifetime warranty.

They are moderately priced compared tp Steiners and Fujinons. For 2-3 times the price you get less distortion on the edges, a slight increase in depth of field, possibly better durability, but no improvement in brightness, definition, or contrast. I am very happy with my old Tahiti"s.

I really like my WM Arubas--very light weight with excellent performance (to my eye). No compass or range-finder, but for my almost non-existent needs, I have a hand-bearing compass.
The WM warranty was at least part of my decision.
Edit to add: I got them at a significant sale price--it happens fairly regularly. It might be happening soon--boat show sale season.

I am weird about binoculars: an adddiction - have about 20 from no name brands through Steiner. The best, in my opinion, are the Fujinon Mariners, usually on sale through Defender -- they are as good as Steiner, lighter, and far less expensive.
PS -- each of my cars have a pair, as well as power boat and sail boat (3) and house (the rest) -- Bushnell stabilized are my favorite: Fujinon are my go-to in all conditions; Nikon are fine too and the rest are similar to the Fujinon but more expensive; Steiner are fine but WAY over priced.

I just had the same problem with mine from West Marine. First set broke but had a recall so I got replacement. I rarely used them as I have been on Lake Murray, SC for 2 yrs where I was working. Then I noticed they too had db vision. Back home in FL again I took them into WM and even though the 2 yr warranty was up they replaced them! Thank you WM.
WM honored the limited lifetime warranty and replaced the not-working-so-well with brand new binoculars...the humorous thing was that they only replace what was brought in - so, as the lens covers were off the old set, I didn't get the new ones...and they checked that there was a battery installed, else they would not have included the one that comes w/ a new pair...LASTLY - the warranty does not apply to the replacement set. If something is wrong w/ them, too bad for me....(maybe I get 30 days, but not lifetime).
Next time around, you'll want the new model with GPS buoy identification, laser rangefinder, and AIS identification--all displayed on the image.

As a 'rewards' member, they track every purchase...I joined the week I got the boat...so it took only a few minutes for the clerk to identify the original purchase.

So maybe have someone else who isn't a rewards member bring them back unless they can identify the binoculars by a recorded serial # and then they would know that person wasn't the original buyer.
