New England Boating series - Milford Harbor

I recently purchased a Roku video stick for my LCD TV and would def recommend it to anybody who watches streams on a big screen. On YouTube, was watching New England Boating which is a feature on Boston's Sporting cable channel NESN.
Saw Mystic, Clinton CT, Northport (technically NOT NE but who's counting?), and then Milford popped up.
I've copied the episode above which is all about my homeport. The hosts interviewed Ray Swift, the director of the Milford Landing Marina, showing the local slips, boat ramps, etc and then they headed out to scare the fishes in the harbor. Later the hosts stopped in at several local eateries and enjoyed...
As I watched, I looked for glimpses of other boats I know from the harbor, and thought chances of spying Passage in a quick cut were 0 to none.
Then they were on the dock talking to Ray about local attractions and lo!, over their left shoulder in a 30 sec clip is a good old Cat25 with a tan sail cover looking really sharp and ship-shape on the guest dock opposite the Marina!
While the show's all about Milford you can clearly see my life-ring hanging from the stern pulpit emblazoned with my hometown STRATFORD!
Afterward there were a few more shots of the C25.
Small world!

Saw her! (Fun for the old P.O.

) I couldn't make out "Stratford" on the ring, but could see "CT 123 AF" on the hull, and lots more that made it obvious.

Scott, you're right! In the heart of January in NE it's fun to revisit summer scenes.
I've gone on to watch several more episodes of NE Boating. Last fall I visited Newburyport MA (up above Boston almost to New Hampshire), which is a very Yar seaport town on the Merrimack River. The show covered the town, the port and history pretty well.
Next one up is Northport, then Newport. A great way to pass a snowy weekend.

So my Roku served up NE Boating at Mystic today. Been there dozens of times by car and a few times by boat. The show featured all the marinas, the drawbridges, the tricky channel markers (including a mast of a sunken sailboat) and the Seaport itself. They hit a few harbor side restaurants that looked great.
I was looking for signs of Dave Bristle's boat Sarge or the water taxi he volunteers on. Maybe I missed it.

On another note, I plan to go to the New England Boat Show in two weeks on Presidents Day weekend. As in years past, Cathy and I plan to run into the cast members Tom Richardson and Parker Kelley and crew members at their booth. Since this is the first year I've watched the show, at least now I'll know what they're talking about.

Yup--Sarge is in it at the 6:48 mark, heading home in the background.

Resolute, the Herreshoff launch I drove, was been out of service last summer due to the need for major restoration--that work and her return is uncertain, and maybe unlikely. My captain's license expires this summer--given the slim chances of needing it again, I'll probably let it go.

"Captain Dave" of the Sabino (and other Seaport vessels), the guest at the beginning of the show, knows Sarge well--he occasionally hails me, for example, to ask if he can turn in front of me or to negotiate our passages through the drawbridge. He apparently doesn't know the river above the Seaport very well--the "channel" is not marked, but it's very passable for a few miles north for a boat like the one in the show (or mine), if you know where it is. That's where Sarge and I live--north of the I-95 fixed bridge.

Yep, you're right. When that gent Dave who was interviewed made that remark about the river it made me think back to the time you hosted me on Sarge. Seemed like there was enough water at that time - 3-4ft if you knew where the channel is. I've kayaked upriver from the I-95 bridge launch a few times and the water seemed fine for the other boats going to & fro. No ocean-going sailors or 50ft + mega-yachts but plenty of runabouts and open fishing boats.
