I would like to start by saying thank you so much to everyone who gave me advice on raising the Mast in another post. I copied the A frame design (Dave I think) made from 3/4 inch emt conduit. I also closely watched the attached videos. Everything went great and I raised the Mast by myself, being careful and taking my time. Once I had it up and secure, I set about doing a light tune of the rig. As a side benefit, with the Mast up and out of the way, I was also able to open the pop top for the first time. Wow what a huge difference in head room in the main saloon. Not to mention the much improved ventilation. Once again, my thanks to everyone.
do you have a pop top cover? The top was my fav feature, and with the cover, you then have extra shelving next to the mast, creating a much more comfortable anchor/dock situation.

No I don't yet have a cover for it. Originally I thought that was a feature I never intended to use. I even considered permanently sealing it down. But now I will definitely be investing in a cover for it. However I will have one custom made as I want it to be the same blue as the rest of my canvas (Sunbrella) covers. Thanks again.
Glad to hear it went well. I often raised the mast alone on calm days, but having another person to guide the mast when lowering is a really good idea. I have a an inverted "T" with a roller that stands in the cockpit and is secured through the scuppers and to the traveller. One person lowers and the other guides the mast onto the roller. To control mast sway, I tie a 1/4" line to each upper shroud using a bastardized form of a reversed rolling hitch that stays put whether the pull is perpendicular or parallel. Its just a clove hitch with the free end and half hitch about 6" above it. Very minimal tension will correct sway.
ps I love my poptop and cover. I also saw one that had the windows replaced with screens and tie down rain/privacy flaps on the outside.

Ooohh...screens with rain flaps. another great idea for me to use. And why not sense mine will already need to be custom made. You guys are great. You may send me to the poor house, but you always come up with great ideas.
