I am in the mood for another project, I am curious if anyone has made, or purchased a full cover for their boat. I am thinking about making one - primarily to use when not on the boat - less sun damage down here in Hotter 'n Hell Texas.
Greetings Dragonfly. Last year I purchased a cover for my 2002 C250. I ordered from a fella on the internet who works out of Canada. He wasn't familiar with the C250. However, he was traveling in Seattle and went ahead and dropped down to Portland where he measured my boat while it was still at the dealer's lot. He made a complete cover for the boat and shipped it to my doorstep. We were very pleased with the design and workmanship. We paid $600 last year, which was a great price compared to the $1,500 - $2,000 quotes we were getting from everyone else. Of course it may have gone up since then. The website where you can find it is www.Boatcovers.ca
Thanks River, I am really enjoying Lake Texoma - so far. It is not the closest lake, as I live in Fort Worth, but it is by far the largest, I like to explore and this lake lends itself to that. I will check out the website. Thanks.
River commented that it was the first one this company made for a c250. It is possible that he did it at cost to get his feet in the door for the design.
Its also possible that they committed to a price that was too low, not having made one for the c250 there may have been some surprizes.
Its also possible they are very busy right now and taking advantage of that... which leaves the buyer in the position to agree or check out the competition.
Was talking with Ben (Chic-O-Pea) and the drifter from Ulman Sails is now 100 bucks more than it was.
Yes, I suspected that the price would be more than I paid. $850 might still be a pretty competitive price. I just remember that when I was looking for a cover, I couldn't find one for under $1,500. Some were as high as $2,500. Custom stuff sure is spendy, isn't it?
