Already for the last 4 days we're waiting out gale force winds due to a high pressure ridge far to the north of us. Winds of 25 to 35kn blow down the strait of Georgia.

Before arriving in Mill Town Marina located on the north arm of the Fraser river in Vancouver we cruised a 22kn mile trip up the south arm of the Fraser river from Ladner, BC via New Westminster ducking below 10 bridges, avoiding commercial fishing boats and huge walls of steel of container ships and down the Fraser's north arm almost entirely lined with tree booms on port and starboard. Both arms are very scenic and a pleasure to experience the cities from the water.

Tomorrow the forecast is for diminishing south westerlies 10 to 15kn and favorable for running about 40nm north toward Desolation Sound via Smuggles Cove, West View, Lund around the corner of Desolation Sound.

We've been on the boat for the last 5 weeks exploring the Gulf Islands and the Fraser River with 2 more weeks set aside for the cruise to Desolation Sound.

Good report as I wondered where you were? We are set to leave for Anacortes to get on the water August 15. This will be my 18th cruise of the NW and am excited as ever. Yes have had to set out a blow when the winds come up strong in the Straits of Georgia. Not sure if we would ever pass but will keep hoping.
Getting boat and rig ready with checking and rechecking. Sure enjoyed reading your article in the cruising section. It has helped with our lists. Have the trailer upgrade and the shore power set up to share in a separate topic.
Hope to see you on the water.

We're nearing the end of our 8 week Gulf Island and Desolation Sound Cruise. Even though it sounds 2 months will never end we surprise ourselves at having arrived almost at the end of our trip.

But... it is not over yet with a couple more stops from Secret Cove to Gibsons to Bowen Island. From there a crossing to the north arm of the Fraser River about 5nm upriver to Mac Donald Beach where the truck and trailer are waiting.

This, our second trip in this paradise has been a sheer pleasure with an entire mixture of weather but mostly good.
