Tape it very closely on either side and then apply a filler.

First, where is this? Looks like the deck just inside the genoa track somewhere. At first glance, it appears to be a "spider crack" in the gelcoat--presumably the laminate beneath is solid and intact. You can verify that with a thin piece of wire. If so, I'll recommend this:



...available at West Marine and elsewhere. However, it's white--I don't recall if there are color variants anywhere. But squeeze it into the crack, let it set, and then lightly sand it flush. You might be able to add a pigment and apply it with a small tool...

If this is evidence of a bigger problem like rotten plywood core that has allowed flexing that caused the deck laminate to crack, the core problem should be solved, or nothing else will work. I won't get into that until you indicate it's an issue. It does appear, in the background of the picture, that some patching has already been done. (...the white stuff?)

Thanks Dave for your advice on this product. I tried to fill various spider cracks with "whitish" epoxy filler, with unsightly results and difficulty sanding it out. None of them appeared to be structural. I was just trying to prevent damage from neglect.

Here's the final result using the bigger Evercoat Fiberglass Gel Coat Patch kit. You can't tell unless you look really closely.

Nice job Seth, I've got a few of those gel coat cracks myself I'll let you fix. I just left them, Figure they add to the boats character

I just looked up the kit--includes colors to mix into the patch material. I hadn't seen that version.
