My wife knows what kind of weather nerd I am so even tho I didn't want any Xmas presents she researched all the available weather stations out there to replace a cheesy Wal*mart wireless station that finally crapped out on me. It's an Ambient Weather model WS-1400-IP that provides temp, humidity, wind direction, speed, gusts and indoor temp, humidity and barometric pressure. The outdoor unit sits on the top of a 20ft mast near my woodshed. It reports all readings into an RF device that sits on my home network. I can read all the raw, realtime data on any device on my home network like my PC, iPad or iPhone. It's also authenticated to Weather Underground's local amateur reporting network. If you'd like to see reports on WU from my station, go to the site and look for Shelton / Stratford CT and look for reporting station "Windyhill Oronoque", North Stratford. That's the weather in my backyard. Anybody else doing this out there?

Todd, Sail Flow (little app that runs on my Android cellphone) gets me basic wind strength, direction and current air temperature from the weather station at MCB Quantico, not far from y'all.

SailFlow is great even if you have a free account for wind speed and direction. NOAA's National Weather Service website offers local weather from many local airports. If you ask the marina to install a weather station that can provide temp, humidity, barometer, solar flux and wind data, see whether they'll provide the info on their WiFi network (you can connect to it using its local LAN ip address) and connect it to their website or another website for general access. The model I have was designed to do this with Weather Underground, but any local website is fine. Another idea is to go to the WU website or app and find your marina on the map. There may already be an amateur weather station nearby.
