So last week we got the next 100 year storm (more like 100 day storm).
Thankfully we were spared any death and destruction (although many nearby are still suffering badly) and my boat is safely on the hard for another month or two, but this is getting ridiculous!
I stopped by at Passage yesterday and found a flooded cabin sole. Near the head, along the main aisle between the starboard settee and dinette seats and between the seats I must’ve sopped up 6-8 gallons of rainwater. No portlights or hatches were open. Believe it or not, the bilge had only 1/4” of water below.
In the past week I measured 3+ inches of rain on my Weather Underground weather station. ID: KCTSTRAT13. And I have a tarp over the cabin which should have largely prevented this.
Somehow the runoff from the bow is coming into a gap somewhere. Probably the chainplate bedding or stanchions.
During our next 100 year nor’easter coming this Wednesday, I plan on visiting Passage to see how the water is entering. It could have all come in from a single ingress point and flooded between the dinette seats, then spilled over into the aisle then into the head.
I hope to find it soon, as I’ve cleaned the seat cushions last season and this would mess them up badly if it happens while on the slip this summer.

With the wind speeds the large amount of rain was being driven sideways out of the E, then N then W. The rain could have easily been driven under the tarps. Big question is how it got inside the cabin. Good possibly is the forward edge of the sliding companion way top. Depending how your boat is sitting water can pool along that leading edge and spill over into the cabin. When I wash my boat I have to be careful not to shoot water there or It will enter and end up on the floor.
