OK this is not South Florida, but then again it's April 7th, I've got a Chesapeake Bay cruising guide in my lap and the 17th through the 20 th off, Lady Kay is in the driveway ready to go and it's
SNOWING and they are calling for 4-8.....HEEEELLLLPPP!

Don't feel too bad....... You could live up here in Maine where there is still 3 feet of snow in front of the boat and 2 feet of ice still on the lakes!!!!

And to think that Steve & I were sailing yesterday. 85 degrees and 12 knot winds....

It's a little better here in Puget Sound but not by much. This past week has seen temps ranging from high 30's to high 40's. Hail and snow in places but mostly very cold rain. All in All its been a mild winter. Rain here lasts until the second week in July. Then it dries up a little for a couple of months then starts all over again. The dont call it the emerald city for nothing.

It probably happened because every time I think about taking the cover off WHAM!!!!!!!!!!

S A I L...We're kidding RIGHT... I can't even get up enough heat in the green house to sprout seeds and I'm bugging the yard to launch me. What crust! And Jerry move south or trade that baby in for snow-mobiles <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>. Wadda ya say ?

I'm driving me crazy, not sure if I'm pushing the season or not. H E L P !!!!!

Florida? I'd go to Columbia but the family seem not to be concerned, preferring to complain rather than pack it all in and head south. As is they'll be ready to go when I'll be 90 +++ YUKKKK.

If it gets in the 70's tommorow erase this please.

the latest weather in the NE is the fault of a lady in my church who hates snow and won't come out if these is even the hint of the gross white stuff in the air.

Two Sunday's ago she promised to in church if the was no snow between when I saw her Thursday and Sunday at 10:00. At ten every thing was dry, and most of the white stuff had melted. Our parking lot was clear. However, she didn't come. And, during the service the white stuff started falling.

She felt justified for staying home, it was in the forecast after all, and I told her that I called in alot of favors to make sure it was dry before the service.

Well, since then we have had basically crappy weather including a three day ice and snow storm, and more forecast for tonight, tho' not as much as Oscar is expecting. BTW. Our snow was supposed to start before noon today, and at 3:15 hasn't started here. Could it be . . .?

People in the NY Capital District are ready for spring and are fed up with the white stuff.

Today we received a 6-7 inch dusting of the cold white stuff. I hope I get a nice weekend soon because my splash date is about three weeks away.

Usually the ice is gone by the middle to end of April, but if the winter is long and cold it could be around into May. Lake Erie is the southernmost of the Great Lakes, but because of its' shallow depth, it is the only one of the lakes that will completely freeze over. It did so this year.

I was at the marina two weeks ago and, although the ice was still thick, it was starting to melt.

Erie is certainly the most likely of the Great Lakes to freeze because it is the shallowest. but I read recently that three of the five froze completely over this winter. Erie was one, Ontario was not one. Not sure which of the others froze over. Also heard that the average ice depth on the great lakes this winter was 24 inches! Seems remarkable to me!

This is KYC (Kingston Yacht Club- Lake Ontario) last May. If anyone is in the area of the Thousand Islands this summer, this is a great place to sail.

The snow encrusted photo looks like my place. Long Island, N.Y. got seven inches of heavy wet stuff Monday. How many candles will you have to lite to get that beautiful May configuration? Seems like THAR'S NARRY A STINK POTTER SLIPPED THAR. How'd ya manage that

Well Val, the answer is simply. We offer no finger docks to crash, and picking up the mooring off the stern can prove a bit much for them.
