I don't know which way is which. However its really simple to check, and it won't hurt anything. You can check by opening the through hull (or to hull) valve for your head. Pump a few times. If it is bringing in water, that is most likely the wet position. Flip the switch the other way and pump until there is no water left. If both ways are bringing in water, close the valve and by the head repair kit for what ever model you have.
Thanks for the advice. Today this is what I did: Opened the valve; Pumped the handel, but no water came in. I manually added water to the head and was easily able to pump it out to the holding tank. When I moved the handle position to the "other" position, I still cannot bring outside watet in.
Suggestions? I think my next move is to replace the grudgy "fresh water" hose to see what is happening.

Is the valve to the outside water open? If not, you won't bring any water in.
