Because it appears that the boat is beside the road and may have been under tow when the fire occurred... I'm was thinking an electrical short as most likely.

But, the probably caused was explained to be...

Looks like the fire might have been atributed to Rags and chemicals. Gary if it had been a gas explotion there would be little to no top on the boat. Rags with chemicals can spontaneously ignight at any given moment.

I agree. Look at where the most damage is. . . right where the galley is on the C25, and probably is on most boats.

You gotta watch that epoxy! A large enough amount in a container can produce an awful lot of heat.

I don't understand why he'd leave the container of epoxy and the paper towels on the boat after he was done.

According to a later post on the TSBB the owner had been working w/ epoxy & as some leftover epoxy cured it heated up & caught some nearby paper towels on fire.

The good news is nobody was hurt & there was no damage to nearby property.

Poor dude.....If you read the thread on trailer sailor you'll find he put an awfull lot of time into the boat and was just about done.....
First time I mixed epoxy and filler I did it in a (thin) plastic cup......when it started melting and I burnt my fingers (through the paper towels) trying to stop the spill, I said to myself...."Self, this sh&* gets very hot....carefull." I have since never left the scene untill all epoxy was cooled.....guess this guy learned the hard way.

The boat fires I've worked have been caused by cleaning chemicals, spontaneous combustion of finish soaked rags, and lightning. In that order.
