In my cabin the two small holes at the lowest points of the floor that are supposed to allow water to drain down into the bildge are clogged. I have tried all sorts of things including q-tips and cork screws to try to open them up, they are packed tight, and they must turn or something or else jamming a screw in them would have cleared them for sure. Anyway, I was wondering if I could try to use some sort of liquid plumber or something, or if that would eat a hole in the boat. If anybody has found something that works to solve this problem please let me know.
Those don't sound factory installed? Where exactly on the cabin sole are they?
Do you have any idea what might be clogging them? If someone actually glassed up these holes, liquid plumber won't cut the mustard; beside that, I don't know what liquid plumber would do to fiberglass (I know your not supposed to put the stuff down plastic piping.)
If the two holes are in the lowest part of the floor, that means they must be near the galley. I suspect the PO drilled them there to drain the water that occasionally collects there. When the boat heeled, bilge water might have gushed from the holes, so he might have glassed them shut again.
I have the same holes, in the head area and the galley. I took a 1/4" drill and cleaned them. I found that its dust and dirt sticking and filling th holes.
