What website offers the most comprehensive and most easily accessible weather forecast data?

weatherchannel.com works for me. they have "desk top weather" that has real time wind direction, speed etc...

Also, I am trying to move my Cat 25 from Annapolis to Solomon's (about 45-55 miles south) either sunday or monday, or both. The forecast is for partly cloudy skies sunday and monday, which looks like the only bit of sun before another week of rain. The wind and waves is below. How would my cat like Sunday? What about monday? Can we go all the way in a day? Can we take the pressure?

NW WINDS 20 TO 25 KT. WAVES 3 FT.

SUN NIGHT
NW WINDS 20 TO 25 KT BECOMING W 10 TO 15 KT OVERNIGHT.
WAVES 3 FT SUBSIDING TO 2 FT.

just visited the baydreaming website. what a neat site.

we were supposed to leave or home port of worton creek last friday 5/23 for a week on the chesapeake. our destination was solomons island. changed our plans to take this week instead. hoping for better weather. well........... it doesn't look much better. we will probably wait and leave on monday go to annapolis or st michaels then see what the weather is like wednesday and thursday.

bsmudd where in solomons will you be docked?

I've been looking at Town Center, Harbor Island and Calvert Marina. I think Calvert has a pool and a lot of land. any suggestions?

Try this site for the Chesapeake, it is Thomas Point Light just south of Annapolis."http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.phtml?$station=tplm2" If you would like to check other NOAA sites try including THomas Point try www.ndbc.noaa.gov/rmd.shtml Thomas Point provides Wind Speeds/directions, water and air tempertures. It also provides the latest NWS weather forecasts. Some of the ocean sites provide wave periods and wave heights.

I've read that the wind dies out on the Chesapeake in July and August. Has this held true in recent years of abnormal weather patterns? How is June for wind?

May & June are usually the best sailing months IMHO. April is good too if you don't mind the cold nights. July usually has decent wind here on the lower Bay, but can get beastly hot. August is hot w/ little daytime wind although you usually get evening breezes (perfect excuse to hang by the marina pool & do a sunset sail). The fall is nice, but in October when the big boats are out playing it can get a little windy to travel very far in our C250. Just stay flexible & you'll have fun sailing for maybe 8 months of the year.
