Father's Day weekend saw some very low tides in the Sound (Puget), -4.2 in Olympia on Sunday, -3.9 at McMicken Island (south Sound) on Saturday. Great clamming/oystering/crabbing.

Anyone else get out and enjoy seeing more beach and sand bars than usual?

We dug clams and waded the shore picking up Red Rock crabs with the clam shovel at McMicken Island. Left the camera in the truck -DOH!- so I don't have any pics.<img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

Yes, we were out<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>! What a great weekend!

Made for an interesting trip back into our marina in Tacoma (Breakwater Marina). Came in at 11:30 on sunday with -3.8 at 12:30. I passed over one spot where our depth sounder said 3.9 feet (luckily we have about 8 inches extra over what it says)...to 15 yards to starboard all of the stink pots were high and dry...what a great sight that was (made the scary trip in worth while).

There were a few boats at Quartermaster sitting on the bottom. Just those who didn't know any better. I was out twice on Sunday WOW what a sail. Ruth and I went out for a sunset sail and were the only sailboat on the bay. 10 to 20 kts of wind at times. Rail in the water for the first time this season. Yeeee Haaaaa.
