Hi All: just got an old autohelm 1000 given to me (not working) looking for 1. any technical data...manual...schematic
and or old units to canibilize parts from....any help appreciated. Btw..the last owner said when it quit working the motor would turn the shaft in only one direction ????? Best winds:
Did you get all of the accessories with the autopilot? By accessories I mean the cantilever and mounting bracket, electrical socket, tiller pin,...etc.
Also, I remember reading in this forum of people who sent their Raymarine products in for service and getting incredible deals like free repairs/replacements and/or discounts on new equipment. You may want to look into this before expending a lot of effort(money) in repairing an older model autopilot.
Don may be referring to an article posted by Ken Cave some time ago. He had a problem with an Autohelm 1000 and after sending it to the manufacturer for repair/consultation was issued a new unit no charge. Understandably, he was jubilant with the out come of the interaction I have the Autohelm 1000 and have had five years of flawless operation with it feeling confident that should a problem occur Autohelm is a great company to have done business with.
I'm sure you will have the same experience dealing with their customer support team.
