there are some bottom cleaners at West Marine that will remove barnacles

http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001& langId=-1& catalogId=10001& productId=72471

I'd give it a try and then scrub with those green pads (wear rubber gloves). Try to avoid scratching the prop with a chisel.

With all due respect to WM, I've never found any cleaner that will successfully remove barnacles. A scraper seems to work best - but DO wear gloves - those little suckers have VERY sharp shells! (No, we don't have barnacles in Canyon Lake - but I crew on a Big Cat on the coast...)

I'd pull the prop off so you can clean it on the hard.

Then use a scraper or a wire wheel on an angle grinder...(or similar)

They're one of Mother Nature's greatest wonders--3M should have an adhesive that good! I'v wrestled with them, but I have nothing good for you...

Believe it or not, barnacle glue is the subject of much research. So far, they know it's a protein, although I don't think anyone has been able to make it artificially.

When osmepneo had barnys on her bottom a power was got rid of most of them, I suspect that would work on a prop. Then I scrapped what was left with a putty knife, and finally sanded using a random orbital samder. All that took care of the problem fairly quickly.
