I not only have a slip in the marina next to Val, But I have an owners manual for the 1000 Auto pilot. Send me an email with a fax or mailing address to frich@suffolk.lib.ny.us I will get it out to you.
John, I know this has been bouncing around for a few days, and has probably been dealt with, but I believe I have an autohelm 1000 and do have a manual. If push comes to shove I can copy it and send it to you. Just let me know.
the manual is at our lake house and I will bring home next week. So that I have it here if you need it.

Hi Doug,Frish,Don: Thank you for your help with my autohelm 1000.
Doug: I got the manual from the Raymarine web site.funny thing..the only manual that was correct for this unit say's Autohelm 800 on the cover page...all other models were the digital style .This unit has a Autohelm 1000 label on it.???? any ways it is the only one that uses a magnetic compass/dial knob to set the course..and they say its about 18 years old..made in England.I called Raymarine for help(factory) they said "We no longer support this unit, and parts are not available from Dealers"......well i copied down five of the local dealers phone numbers and called around...finally found one who has a replacement part(compass) and is willing to fix it...moral of the story...never give up the ship!!!(autopilot) again thank you all .

What is their estimate for fixing the autopilot?
The reason I ask, autopilots are somewhat inexpensive(some as low as $266.96) so you may want to look at replacement over repair.
