I am pondering a late July splash in Clear Lake Ca. I've been powerboating there before but have never sailed that lake. (I'm craving a warm water sail.)
Has anyone here launched/boatcamped with a C25 on that lake? Any/all advice welcomed about this venue.
Suggestions on other mid-summer venues in NW California are also welcome. I know Trinity & Whiskeytown fairly well.

I have been to Clear Lake a few times. I always used the launch ramp at Redbud Park, on the southeast corner of the lake. Just to warn you though, late July may not be the best time of year for a Clear Lake cruise, for the following reasons: 1. The annual algae bloom is really cooking by then, making the water pretty yucky (I wouldn't swim in it). 2. Lake County is a blast furnace in July and August, with afternoon high temp often well over 100ºF, and no wind to speak of if the Pacific High pressure ridge is in place over the coast.
A few members of our sailing club have been doing a cruise to Clear Lake over the Memorial Day weekend for the last few years and they generally have a decent time, but I would not go there after mid-June for the reasons cited above.
