I have a 1979 tall rig. I want to take about two feet off the top of the sail to allow the boom to set higher. More headroom, less "BOOM"!

Has anyone done this? Is there any problem with this other than the need to retain the strength of the sail wh

Douglas,

How do you plan on lopping two feet off the top without ruining the lines of your sail? Are you going to recut the entire leech?

It seems to me that no matter how you cut it, you're going to have to redesign your sail and your sailplan.

Why not look for a good used standard rig main and keep you tall rig main for times you want to use it. Either that of put on a reef.

Try the used sail outlets, that is what I did. I found a Main from a Ranger 26 that was a perfect fit. Now I no longer get bumps on my head and I can also put up a bimini.
