i only clicked on this to keep it up front on the forum. I have talked to several "non-fleet" folks about this and told them to check this forum for info.....come on....SOMEBODY within trailering distance MUST want to come and have this much fun!
Gary its sad that our boats are not trailered to events like yours. I'd love to do it but I have a whole country between me and thee, and I don't have a trailer. Suspect that many fall into that category (no trailer)
Sounds like a wonderful venue, but . . ..

I know....I would like to attend a Nationals event someday. I have a trailer, but the Great Lakes and East is getting a LONG WAYS from home. I wouldn't mind seeing a West Coast venue for Nationals. BTW: Just how many C25s attended the Nationals this spring? Just curious.....

quote:
Ten boats raced, two of which traveled to Syarcuse. Everyone had a great time, and the racing was fun for everyone, but . . ..

I just typed this in another thread, but if you guys would like something more local, talk with the officers and make a proposal for your area. Over the past 4 years, we've had the regatta in Utah, Michigan, and Indiana. Its not that we are opposed to moving it, it that we need a member who can volunteer their regatta, launch facilities (either ramp or hoist), a committee boat, etc.
If y'all would like to travel South - Canyon Lake is available and beautiful! But last year I could not get any entry commitments... The C22 Nationals basically travel around the country - one year East of the Mississippi, next year West. They attempt to alternate between Northern and Southern sites - maybe we should consider the same. (I'd still like it to be somewhere like Lake Texoma next year...) Derek

I will come to Canyon Lake. With Steve, Bren and myself that will be at least 3 C250's and since Arlyn is in NE Texas maybe he will come that would be 4. Maybe it?s close enough for Max Day from Lake Pleasant, AZ to come that would be 5!!!
I think Derek is on to something!
One thing I do what to see next year is a Milby, Crawford match up in the C25 TR class.
Me three. It's great to hear this talk about getting boats together for a National Championship. go get 'em guys. However this doesn't get racers to Columbia river for theit one-design regatta. Come on you western guys, why not go west and have a western regional champion?

Maybe I can get one of them to give the other five seconds a mile if I'm on the crew!

If I haul my boat all the way to Tejas next year, Derek will decide that he has to visit his in-laws that weekend, just like he did this year. How about it, Derek? How far is it anyway? (From Dayton, Ohio to Canyon Lake, not from Canyon Lake to your in-laws house!)
Steve - sorry for the delayed reply but I'm in WA with Gary B - we raced the "Six-Pac" together down the Columbia River. No, I wasn't "visiting relatives" last time - they were all visiting me (8 of 'em!). And if you'd like to trailer to Canyon Lake I'll certainly be there to match race you - say 5 races over 2 days??? Derek

Match race. What about the rest of the tall rigs that might want to race in the 2004 Nationals.
If it does turn into a match race the only problem I see between this match of heavy weight C25 fk/tr sailors is, if it is sailed at one of the 2 guys home lake that guy will have a distinct advantage. It should be held at a neutral site, kind of like the Super Bowl.
But if there is not another site available I guess Canyon Lake will have to do. I think I will be able to travel anywhere as long as it is not any farther than the 1300 miles I had to trailer this year to Syracuse.
Bryan - I wasn't thinking "Nationals", more like an Old West Shootout! However, I would love to have y'all come and race - we are real friendly folk. Anyone for the best margarita's in the Country?? (after all, it was invented by a San Antonio lady!) Derek (still in Battle Ground, WA)
Okay....tall rig, wing keel (faster than a fin in shallow, under 3 feet of water ), new furling sails from Ullman Sails (I don't care if they aren't mylar), Honda 8 that runs fine (in case I get WAY behind). Now, if the race in Texaco is not held the weekend I get done with school (AGAIN !!! ) maybe I will commit to trailering from Southern California next summer. I bought my boat the week after the Long Beach national race so missed that one. I am itching to race a big race. Have raced several C22 nationals in the past and Prindle catamaran nationals (finished 4th one year) so really love to race. Just decide to hold the race at the very end of June so I can get things together and drive there for a change. Talk DATES of race everyone so we all can make plans now. Thanks.
OK guys & gals - if I could persuade the Officers to hold the Nationals on Canyon Lake, how many of you would be interested in coming at the end of June '04? Look at a map first, 'cos it's a looong way from anywhere! Derek
