This auction has ended with no buyer. I always save and watch the C-25 and C-250 auctions on eBay, and this is at least the second time this one has been up for auction ... there were no bids either time.
There is NO trailer with this boat ... I'm sure that is a BIG factor to prospective buyers ... it certainly would be with me. Anyway, the interesting thing is, the owner is the original buyer ... he/she has had it since it came from the factory (1981 model, I think).
I think I resolved myself to the fact that my swinger without a trailer is going to be a trade in...I can't foresee any other feasible way to get the best dollar value out of it.
Duane, Have you tried selling your boat? I believe there are many boat (and potential) owners out there to whom trailerability is not an issue. I bought mine without a trailer because I don't want a big truck and I don't want to wrestle a boat on a trailer any heavier than the Capri 16 I used to have. I am perfectly happy to pay for a slip and use my boat in her home waters and let the next owner move it on if they wish. I have a swing keel, and while keeping it in salt water is not the best ... what the hey ?!? I maintain her well and it is a good boat. I bought her at a fair price, and with the good maintenance she receives, I think she'll fetch a fair price when I get foot-itis bad enough. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
I suspect that many of don't have a trailer for many of the reasons Dave suggests. That is basically true for me, altho' I'm thinking about getting a trailer so that I can winter store at our lake house.
This is, in a way unfortunate! Because many don't have trailers turnout at National events is limited to a few boats that are trailered to the event and the near by boats. Places like the Chesepeake and LI Sound on the east coast and Puget Sound on the west coast have pockets of c25/250's that could sail to a National event.
I'd be interested in thoughts on this.

Agreed, a rotating venue of East Coast/Central/West Coast would give most everyone a realistic shot at attending. Face it, for most C25 owners 3,000 miles of towing for a regatta is not feasible.
Within an East/Central/West rotation, the venues could also move North and South to provide even more opportunity.
West Coast has San Diego/SF Bay/Columbia River/Puget Sound... Alternating a C25 West regatta (for example) between SF Bay and Puget Sound would open the event to a LOT more people.
East Coast likewise... lots of choices. Central, there's the Great Lakes for North and the Gulf Coast for South...
Dunno what sort of logistical can of worms would be opened by the above but on the coasts there are probably a number of yacht clubs and groups that would be interested.

I think you are in agreement with everyone here. The main problem is that we need to have someone step forward from one of those areas with a proposal. I have only been an officer of this club for a little over 2 years (maybe less, I haven't been counting) and I don't think we have entertained more than two offers for nationals each year. Usually we are begging for them.
