Anyone have any recommendations for the best source for a new sail cover?
Catalina Direct went up by $60-$70 on the custom colored cover, and there are many sources on the web. Anyone have any good experiences with one?

I noticed the same thing when I went looking for a new cover. Oddly enough, when I checked with a few other sources, their prices had increased by a similar amount! I figured it must be some sort of canvas conspiracy. I ended up buying from CD and was pleased with the product. However, someone else here may have found a cheaper source.

For what it's worth- The Catalina Direct cover is very nice quality.

Try sailrite.com... they sell pre-cut sailcover kits.

You can save some money by stitching up your own...lots of different fabrics to choose from.

Currently maintaining two holes in the water...'77 Venture 23 and new to the family,

You might try a local sail loft. Our local little loft made a great sail cover for us (slightly cheaper than Catalina Direct) then followed up with matching custom fit bimini, tiller cover and motor cover. Great prices and service.

I had our local Toledo, Ohio North Sails loft (formerly Greiner Sails) make a Sunbrella cover for about $185 and they did a great job and it fits the boat very well. It has a zipper front with turn catches along the bottm. Judy Greiner made the cover using the old as a pattern plus I asked her to give me a little extra room so I didn't have to pack my sail in so tight. I couldn't be more pleased. I used Sailnet a couple of years ago, and had Air Force Sails do a cover while they converted a jib to furling and added sacrifice cloth. The work was good and the price right. Haven't used them recently.

I purchased a sail cover from CD this June when I bought an Ullman loose footed, full battened main from them. Although the price has gone up, in my opinion the quality has gone up to a much greater degree. The canvas (Sunbrella) is of a greater weight and the snaps, reinforcement, shape and fit are greatly improved as well. This is the third sail cover I have owned since I purchased Silver Girl new in '83. The original Catalina cover was chintzy, the first one I bought from CD was "adequate" but left a lot to be desired. The last one I bought from them is the best by far and I expect that it will last long enough to more than make up for the difference in price.
