Tried to arrange to be pulled on Monday - yard already fully booked for all week sunup to sundown!

Considered going up river (Piankatank) & anchoring out, but figured w/ our freeboard in predicted 65+ knot winds that our 2 anchors (27lb & 15lb)wouldn't hold even full scope w/ the extra chain we have.

So we are tied in the most protected slip available at our marina with as many lines & springs as would fit the cleats in the best arrangement we could make to keep us off the pilings. Everthing is removed except the mast & outboard.

All that's left to do now is cross our fingers & hope. We'll see what's happened Saturday morning. Now I just have to worry about trees falling on the house near Richmond!

Good luck Cathy,

I'm way up the Rhode River and keeping my fingers crossed. Hope my lines are long enough for the 7 - 8 foot surge/tide expected.

This site is a GREAT resource full of VERY helpful folks.

Thank you all.

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote> What did everyone do with his/her boat in preparation for the Isabel?<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>

1. took the outboard off and stowed below decks.
2. added extra hatch tape to seal the poptop and companionway boards.
3. stowed the main.
4. doubled stern lines and crossed them.
5. added a second spring line on the other side (to the primary winches).
6. used anchor rode to run LONG double lines to the bow from the dock across the "alley."
7. spun the bow of the boat to the NE (I did this first -- it's easier that way!).
8. took charts, GPS, binoculars, books off the boat.
9. asked the 17,000 United Methodists on the 60 churches I superintend to pray.
10. rented 6 DVDs, bought some comfort food, brought the dog inside, and told my secretary to stay home today.
