I was given the following info by Lindsey at Catalina Direct in a phone call today; those of you shopping for a Mk. IV might find this useful:
"The first Catalina 25 Mk. IV, defined by the deletion of the keel trunk and lowering of the cabin floor, was Hull Number 5803, built June 13, 1987". The last-ever Catalina 25 has been previously stated to be Hull Number 6031, implying the total production of Mk. IV's was only 228, not 250. Anyone shopping specifically for a Mark IV, and a lot of you are, now have a benchmark hull number to check against when inquiring about a prospective boat. If this info is correct, then any Catalina 25 with a hull number 5803 to 6031 is a Mark IV. Can anyone verify the rumor that all Mark IV's are wing keel? Were fin keels installed on any of the last 228 boats?

Larry,

Just to add some confusion - If the wing keel and lowered floor define the Mark IV model, mine has both, has sail number 5801, and was built in 1988.

My hull number is 5933 and it is a standard rig with a fin keel. One other Catalina 25 at our club is number 6013 with a fin keel.

A few weeks ago I bought an original 88/89 Catalina 25 brochure from E-Bay. It's beautuful. Makes me want to buy another one.
In it they say that it is available in either fin or wing.
Why doesn't my boat look so spiffy inside?
