I am thinking about replacing the companionway wood slots with foggy Placksie glass. Has anybody had any experience with Placksie glass and the cost.

Hi Ken, welcome to the forum.

Plexiglas is a trademark for light permanently transparent weather resistant plastic. Another one is Lexan.

I'm not sure if the stuff sold at home centers is thick enough and/or whether they have the tinted stuff.

You can take the hatch boards and go to a glass supply. They will measure and quote. They can cut to size and finish the edges. Or they can sell you the piece and you can do it yourself.

I'm not sure what the technique is to do the cutting without chipping etc.

Let us know what you find out, I've been considering doing the same.

I have been told that Lexan gets foggy after time in the ultra violet rays. In fact, I've seen some hatches that look very bad after a few years. I've been told to use acrylic instead of Lexan for this reason.
