I'm interested in working with groups that are interested in forming a fleet in their area, or revitalizing an existing fleet. I should have an information packet soon, and would be glad to discuss what needs to happen.
San Diego has indicated preliminary interest.
Several along the Cheasepeake
Someone in Florida
Wichita (sp - good thing I don't live there) Kansas
Syracuse, Indiana
The Great Sacandaga Lake, NY
have all some beginning level of interest.
Are there others? Contact me, and I'll get back to you.

Is there an archive listing of all old fleets? Since we used to have a designation then it seems reasonable to use the old designation. Do the association records have our information? Wichita Once again I have yet to see a list of the steps that must be followed. If it is just a list of the local owners then here... I would like some ammo to use on the 6-8 C250's in the yard at Lake Pleasant and many C25's. I don't think there has been a fleet in Phoenix yet. I would like to know the procedures to form a fleet.
I don't know about a historical Wichita fleet, but will try to find out, and will place your request on the agenda for the next meeting of the association officers. If your crew are all members of the association, I see no difficulty in having your request approved, either as a new fleet, or as an exisiting fleet being revitalized. If there is any formal paperwork, I'll get that to you as soon as possible. But for now know that your request will be on the agenda. Thanks
I don't have a firm grip on all the procedural things you need to do, but will get you information as soon as it isa completed.
Couple of things to think about:
1. Start talking to the owners of c25/250 at your marina and other marinas near by. I suggest that your fleet be open to both c25s and c250s. Maybe 250s will dominate but the 25s increase your potential market. 2. If you have some preliminary interest you could plan a meeting to talk about programming. Are ylu going to race? Where can you cruise to? Is there a spot where you could meet together for an afternoon of fun and a picnic? What about having a skills regatta? I think you need to answer these questions for yourself as a group, and then send me a list of the those who show interest. They need to be members of the c25/250 National Association. 3. An active locqal fleet is key to success of a fleet, doing things together. Helping boats launch or solve problems, getting together for picnics and other social things all add value to fleet membership. Your program allows members to make friends with new people who have the same kind of boat, and then can become resources to others.
As my office gets going, especially as I receive information about new boats sold, I'll forward that info to you so that you can follow-up and invite these new Catalina owners into the family. Also once I get the membership data base, I can do a sort for Phx and see see who are members of the National Association and refer these members to you.
Thanks for your interest, keep me posted of your progress.
